Objective:

The objective of the game is to clear the board without detonating any of the bombs. The player is given a number of flags equal to the number of bombs on the board. The player can use the flags to mark the location of the bombs. The player can then click on the squares to reveal them. If the player clicks on a bomb, the game is over. If the player clicks on a square that is not a bomb, the square will reveal a number. This number represents the number of bombs that are adjacent to that square. The player can then use this information to deduce the location of the bombs. To win a game of Bombsweeper, all non-bomb cells must be opened without detonating a bomb. The game tracks the number of moves the player has made, the time it took to complete the game and the flags count left to place. The first click of the game is always safe.

Controls:

The player can use LMB (left mouse button) to reveal a cell. RMB (right mouse button) can be used to place/hide flag on the square. The player can use the escape key to return to the main menu. Game starts when the player clicks on the chosen square.

Difficulty:

The game has three difficulty settings. The beginner setting has a 8x8 board with 10 bombs. The intermediate setting has a 16x16 board with 40 bombs. The expert setting has a 16x30 board with 99 bombs. The player can change the difficulty setting by clicking on the difficulty button in the game's side menu. The game will reset the board and the timer when the difficulty is changed.

Leaderboard:

The game tracks the 5 best scores based on the count of moves made by the player for each difficulty setting. Also stores the time it took to complete the game and assign the default username to 'User'. The leaderboard can be accessed from the main menu. The leaderboard is stored in the browser's local storage.

Mobile:

The game is fully responsive and can be played on mobile devices. The game can be played by tapping on the screen to reveal a cell. The player can use the long press (HOLD click on the screen) to place a flag on the cell.

Cheat Codes:

The game has a few cheat codes that can be used to help the player. The cheat codes can be entered simply by typing on the keyboard. The following cheat codes are available:

bombs - highlights location of all bombs on the board.

clear - hides the highlighted bombs on board when "bombs" code is used.
